Mai dong xi,chi dong xi,mai dong xi,chi dong xi
I'm back from Hongkong!!! HK was fab man. Do you remember that annoying advertisement in which there were a few girls running around HK with the tagline: Mai dong xi,chi dong xi,mai dong xi,chi dong xi...Yi ke dou ting bu xia lai (er something like that if my Chinese hasnt failed me)? Well, I used to think that ad was annoying (for some strange reason) but it proved to be right after this trip. My god. HK's a shopping and food paradise I tell you. Clothes, shoes, bags, jewellery, food - they're all super duper cheap! Like how I bought my denim jacket for 15 bucks. Whereas in Singapore, to get one, you'll have to add a zero behind the 15. Or how you can get a big, delicious plate of spaghetti bolognaise in a restaurant for only 5 bucks. Basically, I went mad there. All shopaholics and food lovers out there, I recommend HK to you.

But of course, I would suggest that you learn some basic Cantonese first. I didn't know any words so I had to depend on my mum the whole time. That's because alot of them don't speak english. Even if they do, they're all basic words or it's too heavily accented that you don't understand it heh.
An example of a convo between me and a salesgirl:
Me: *walks into the shop*
Salesgirl: *greets me in Cantonese and rattles off some stuff*
Me: *smiles and pretends to understand*
Salesgirl: *continues to rattle off in Cantonese*
Me: Er, I'm sorry but I don't understand. Do you speak english? Or..or perhaps Chinese?
The rest of the time (salesgirl and I): *tries to communicate in a series of broken English, chinese and sign language*

Oh yes. I have to tell you all about my oh-so-smart mother. Yesterday, we were supposed to catch the plane which leaves the HK airport at 12noon and reaches Singapore at 3.55pm. But my mother misread the whole thing and thought the plane departs at 3.55pm. So yeah. We missed the flight. Ended up being stranded at the airport for 5 hours and being put on stand-by on the next flight out (which is quite funny actually - well, to me). Imagine if there were no available seats left! We would have to sleep in the airport! Mahahahaha. But damn, we managed to get seats. So there goes my camping-at-the-airport adventure.

Well, that pretty much sums up my trip to Hongkong. I mean, you wouldn't want me to list out what I've bought right? In short, my mum had to buy a new luggage to fit my newly-bought stuff in heh. Pai-seh.
